THE AHA TSHEPO Formula Milk Support Programme

HIVSA manages a distribution center where HIV+ mothers collect free government funded formula milk for their babies aged 0-6mths. This supports the Soweto PMTCT programme - one of the most successful PMTCT programmes in the world. In addition through the support of the “Orange Baby” project free formula milk is made available to mothers for an additional 6-12 months.

Mothers attend a series of “Orange Baby” nutritional workshops where the focus is on formula preparation, importance of good hygiene and preparing solids for infants. Thousands of HIV+ mothers and their infants have benefited from this programme.
