Home base care is a crucial aspect of support for the terminally ill but unfortunately many caregivers lack the basic materials to assist them with their duties. HIVSA has developed a best practice model that provides the caregiver with basic information on HIV/AIDS, provides the organization with tools for good governance and supplies care kits including mouth wash, aqueous cream, body lotion and soap.

When applicable, home base care should be “an entry point to treatment” and therefore caregivers should be appropriately trained. Supporting 350 caregivers in excess of 2000 packs are distributed on a monthly basis providing relief to thousands of clients.
